In just a few short years, Xiaomi has cemented itself in the mobile device market by consistently being on the top 5 selling brands. This year, they aim to continue that legacy with the latest line-up in the mid-range Redmi Note series. With the Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9S, and Redmi Note 9 Pro they are putting up a very good argument.

If you don’t know already, Redmi branched off into its own brand so they can focus on the mid-range market while the mothership Xiaomi Mi series tackled the flagship and prototype markets. And it appears to have worked as planned as Redmi is fast becoming a household name.

Official launch event highlights.

And just a couple of weeks ago, they asserted themselves as “Mid-Range Legends” in the official launch stream of the Redmi Note 9 series where they focused on the big brother and baby brother. But there is also a middle child, and that is the Redmi Note 9S.

Redmi Note 9S Power To win

While we don’t have any information yet if the big brother of the group will be released officially in the region, Xiaomi Philippines has already announced the availability and pricing of the middle child Redmi Note 9S. And although it sacrifices in a few areas compared to the Note 9 Pro, there is still no doubt about its capabilities.

It may not have the 30W fast-charge nor the 64MP Quad Camera setup. But it still has the massive 5020mAh battery, 48MP Quad Camera setup, and Snapdragon 720G chipset. So either way, you’re still getting loads of value for the price.

And that price is really what sets the Redmi Note 9S and its siblings apart from the rest. Just a rundown of all the features can easily set it into the sub-15k mark, but that’s not what Xiaomi is infamous for. They’ve always loved to slap the bigger brands across the face with their ridiculous pricing. And the Redmi Note 9S is no different with a suggested retail price of just P10,490 for the 4GB RAM, 64GB Storage option. And a minor bump up to P11,990 for the 6GB RAM, 128GB Storage option.

Now that is definitely value that is hard to compete with. Although, it would be interesting what Huawei and other mid-range competitors will bring to the table. In any case, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S should be included in your mobile device wishlist for this year if you’re looking for an upgrade on a budget.
