For as long as I can remember, Datablitz has been the go-to brick-and-mortar shop for your console gaming needs. It did sell game PC game boxes – do you still remember those? But unless you were long for the big-name brands you wouldn’t rely on Datablitz for PC accessories. No, you would go to PC Express, Villman, or if you were lucky enough to live close by – Gilmore mall.
But times have changed and it’s great to see that Datablitz has been changing with the times. A few years back it had become a source for a wider selection of PC gaming peripherals. I would end up buying Logitech gear from them because they would be priced a few hundred cheaper than other stores – computer stores for that matter. Today, you can rely on Databalitz to build your desktop at really good pricing.
To be clear though, they don’t build computers so don’t go asking for one at the store. What they do offer are the components so you can order and build your PC at an affordable price.
Datablitz E-Commerce Evolution
I don’t remember when exactly they launched the e-commerce website, but I do remember their first website. In a nutshell, it was quite an atrocity, the user interface was terrible and it looked more like a government website than a gaming store. But that’s because it was launched before the big online shopping boom.
They probably had it planned for a while because in the later part of the 20-teens online shopping had been picking up. Lazada, Shopee, and even Amazon started offering shipping to the Philippines to increase their presence on this side of the globe. It was obvious that e-commerce was to be the new thing. However, 2020 arrived and threw a wrench into a lot of plans. Luckily, Datablitz was able to rise above the situation by immediately launching its e-commerce website.
Gamer Paradise to Warehouse
As Datablitz grew through the years, I remember seeing a growing trend. Living in an area where three different malls are within driving distance, allowed me to regularly pop in their branches for a visit.
I remember my first time walking into a Datablitz store and seeing shelves upon shelves of video games for all platforms neatly displayed for all to see. It was like the gamer’s mecca – where you stop by and pick up a physical game box. Soon though, some shelves were being replaced with consoles and peripherals, so the games were being wedged into stacks and most were no longer displayed front-facing.
Today, Datablitz stores are glorified warehouses in a sense. They have boxes of stuff crammed into every square inch and you have to navigate a maze in some stores just to take a closer look at an item. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, because one area in that they’ve been getting success is online. Sure you still have to show up to pick up a pre-order, but now you can find their entire library on the e-commerce website and then some.
I find the e-commerce store a lot more appealing than dropping by one of their branches. It’s so much easier to browse with the search bar and everything. Of course, there are a few things that need improvement. For one thing, it’s not mobile-optimized.
PC Parts and Components
Now we get to the part where we can start building. Everything you need to build a computer is under the PC Parts and Components category. You’ll find processors, motherboards, internal storage, memory modules, and the elusive graphics cards. Of course, you can also get cooling fans, cases, and power supplies.
There is good news and bad news though. Datablitz does not have a very wide selection, so if you’re looking for something very specific, chances are you’re not gonna find it. But what you are going to find is a decent selection that ranges from entry-level to high-end gaming builds.
Aside from having competitive pricing, the best thing about ordering online from Datablitz is the next-day shipping. Exclusively for residents of Manila, but once you make an order it’ll arrive the next day. I ordered a few things – even late at night – and yet they still arrived in the afternoon of the next day. However, they do go a little overboard on the bubble wrap. Which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on where you are in the environmental concerns.
So the next time you’re planning to build a new PC or upgrade your battle station. It’s a good idea to drop over to the Datablitz E-Commerce store and see what they have to offer.
